About School-Based Therapy Services

School-Based Therapy at The Guidance Center brings mental health support directly to students—right where they are each day. By offering services at school, we make it easier for children and families to access care in a familiar, supportive environment. Our licensed clinicians partner with students, families, and school staff to support emotional well-being, behavior, and overall success.

Sessions are thoughtfully scheduled during the school day to minimize disruption to learning, while still providing meaningful support. Students are typically referred through their school—if you're interested, your school counselor or staff can guide you through the process. Once services begin, our team works closely with the school to schedule sessions at times that support both the student's needs and academic responsibilities.

Even though services take place at school, family involvement remains an important part of the process. Families participate in sessions regularly based on each child's needs to help reinforce progress and support long-term success. Family sessions are typically held monthly or quarterly depending on the child's treatment plan.

Students can also continue services during summer and school breaks to help maintain progress and consistency. Our services are offered across multiple school districts throughout our service area, and if necessary, a Guidance Center clinic can also provide services.
