The Employee Assistance Program (EAP), called BEACON, is a program of the Center (Ask your Human Resources Manager if an EAP is provided by your company). How Does an EAP Work? You may choose to go to any of the seven clinic locations of the Center. Simply pick up the phone and make an appointment with an EAP counselor. There is NO CHARGE to the employee for this service. Your visits are strictly confidential, and records are treated in the same manner as medical records. They cannot be released without your written permission. Who Will See Me? A licensed mental health professional will be your counselor. The staff is comprised of psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, licensed professional counselors and psychiatric examiners. How Will It Help? At some time in our lives many of us will experience personal or work-related problems. Often a few discussions with an EAP counselor will assist in a resolution of these problems. You benefit and so does your employer. How Do I Make an Appointment? • Regular clinic hours are from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm, M-F. • When you call the clinic of your choice, identify yourself as a participant in BEACON. • An appointment will be given to you at that time. • On your first visit, please arrive 30 minutes prior to your appointment time. • A toll-free number is available for making appointments or for after-hours/emergencies. • Remember, this service is completely confidential. Your employer understands the necessity • of confidentiality. |
