
Day Treatment is a therapeutic option for adults with serious, chronic mental illnesses. Day treatment has been a program of The Guidance Center for over twenty years and has been an integral part of healing for the individuals with mental health disorders.
Day treatment offered at the NEW Center in Fort Smith is called The
NEW Beginnings Program. The program purpose is to educated clients about their illnesses, teaches them to manage their physical, emotional and mental health needs and encourages them to become an active participant in their recovery process. The NEW Beginnings
Program is available in Fort Smith on Monday-Thursday.
The County Clinics in Booneville, Ozark and Waldron offer their own unique day treatment programs that meet on specific days of the week. For more information , please

Intensive Day Treatment (IDT)
The IDT program is for those persons, who have:
- Recently been discharged from a hospital setting;or
- May be experiencing acute stages of their illness;or
- Recently been diagnosed with mental illness.
This highly structured program teaches participants to better understand their illness, improve their coping skills and gives them the necessary tools to maintain stability.
